Northern Land Use Research, Inc. (NLUR) is the largest Alaskan-owned and -operated cultural resource management firm. We have offices in both Fairbanks and Anchorage. NLUR provides legally required pre-development cultural resource services for many northern industries and government agencies. Preconstruction surveys for archaeological and historic sites are often required for oil and gas, transportation, timber and logging, mining, utility improvement, and other projects that are licensed, funded, or permitted by federal and state agencies.
Our staff meets or exceeds professional qualification standards to undertake all types of cultural resource compliance projects, such as literature reviews, historic research, intensive archaeological and historical site surveys, historic landscape analysis, National Register of Historic Places evaluations, built-environment documentation including HABS/HAER, site excavations, and data recovery. We provide expert consultation services among project proponents and government agencies. Since incorporation in 1991, we have completed over 400 projects throughout Alaska while building and maintaining a reputation for high quality, on schedule, and cost effective work. |
